The Summer of Sports continues with the Tour de France

Copa America is behind us and Euro 2016 is nearly complete, but sports fans need not fret – there are still plenty of summer sports to keep them entertained. It’s July, so that means the cycling world focuses on the perennially popular Tour de France. The first mountain stage of the 22-day race was completed yesterday, challenging riders with climbs that reached over 5,200 feet, the highest this early in the race since 1979.  Greg Van Avermaet, a Belgian rider of the BMC team, won not only the stage but also the yellow jersey of the overall leader.

Cycling Tour de FranceLe Tour has evolved considerably in its 103-year history both on and off the 3,519-kilometer course. From equipment to strategy, training to publicity, today’s tour is vastly different than when the competition first started. Fan engagement, too, has changed. Now, social media provides an always-on, running stream of updates, commentary, pictures and videos of the event as it unfolds. Fans around the world can contribute their voice to the story using social media.

And media companies covering the event can incorporate the voice of the crowd around this event into their reporting using social media curation. Social media curation helps you discover the newest, most relevant social posts about the Tour de France quickly and automatically across multiple social networks simultaneously – no need to manually sift through each social network individually to hope you find all and the best ones.  Social media curation does the heavy lifting for you. Advanced filtering, including white listing and blacklisting, ensures only the best and safest content is included as part of the integrated social stream.
