Continuous improvement and enhancement is a key value of Crowdynews – and nowhere is that more evident in the product features and fixes delivered by our engineering team. We recently introduced some new features focused on driving engagement and revenue and this month there are even more to share with you.
Specifically, these improvements include:
- Flexibility in determining the “shelf life” of the posts that are displayed in a curated social stream via a customizable Age Filter
- Faster Content Updates, delivering a more near-real-time experience
Some news and/or social content changes so rapidly only the most up to date posts are relevant – thus content in our streams previously had a 24 hour display time limit. However in other use cases the content has more staying power. For example: special events that occur annually or monthly, sporting events, elections, or cooking content (recipes). In response to these market and customer requirements, the system now supports a user-defined age filter – both at the topic level and at the system level.
What this means for you?
You will be able to manage this filter yourself, for any topic in the widget(s) that you use. You’re in control of the freshness of your content.
Fetching feeds to fill your widgets with content is now better and faster for social platforms other than Twitter (which has always been real-time), giving your users a more near-real-time experience with social content. New content for the following services can be fetched, filtered and published in 2 to 5 minutes, which means that fetches have been increased tenfold:
- YouTube
- Tumblr
- Flickr (public content)
- RSS
Also, new inputs (if you add a new user or hashtag) will now be checked first for new content, before checking existing content. You’ll get to see content faster and new inputs will get priority. Speed + relevance is key in this update.
